Hatton Beaten by Mayweather

Ricky Hatton's cocky bid to take the WBC welterweight title from Floyd Mayweather ended when he was knocked out in the 10th round in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

Mayweather beat Hatton to the canvas via the ring post with a left hook and after Hatton climbed to his feet, the champion finished the job with another huge left hand.

Ricky Hatton attempted to outhustle Mayweather from the start but his tactics never worked and the American held a huge points advantage by the time the fight was stopped.

Hatton just wasn't good enough, and Mayweather remains undefeated.

There is talk of Hatton fighting De La Hoya in London next year, but for now Hatton will have to sit back and think about this, his first, defeat.
